LIFE AFTER BEFORE, Louis’ 15th album and 7th solo album, is his newest collection of songs – music and lyrics – and perhaps his most intimate album yet. The album is a gentle, personal meditation on love, aging, the changing nature of relationships, and the complicated, sometimes confounding process of living day to day in a complicated world with the ever-present awareness of time quickly passing, that every day we are living “life after before.”

The musical template is rooted in the most primal aspect of Louis’ musical language, folk music – only string instruments and spare percussion – with  Louis carrying the lead and background vocals and playing acoustic guitar and piano. He is thrilled and fortunate to have as his co-producer and co-arranger the brilliant, world-renowned multi-instrumentalist, David Mansfield, who brings a broad, vivid range of color to the arrangements and Louis’ sound, alternating between acoustic and electric guitar, violin, viola, mandolin and banjo. Louis and David were delighted to be joined by the splendid, much in-demand crossover New York City bassist, Pete Donovan, and the tasteful Rodney Ward Howard on drums.

LIFE AFTER BEFORE will be available for downloading and streaming on all digital platforms on November 6, 2026. A limited edition CD is available only on this website at the top of this webpage.
